Why It Matters
Currently, Texas has only four postsecondary programs with Comprehensive Transition and Postsecondary (CTP) accreditation that are federally recognized and designed specifically for students with
intellectual disabilities who want to continue their education, gain job training, and build life skills. HB 2081 would incentivize more colleges and universities to develop similar programs across the state—helping meet the growing demand from students with IDD who are eager for these opportunities.
