The Power of Your Support: Christopher and Gregory’s Story
Just a few months after Amy Wells was able to bring Christopher and Gregory (two Master Pooled Trust beneficiaries) home from a living center lacking the supports they needed, she exclaimed, “What a difference love and nurture makes!”
Today, Amy says, “The Arc of Texas Master Pooled Trust has made it possible for my two brothers who have special needs to live with me, rather than without family and in a nursing home. Prior to our mother’s death, they had temporarily been placed there, but an employee from that nursing home called to tell me they were ‘dying’ without family interaction.”
Desperate to help them have a better life, she looked to The Arc of Texas: “With the help of The Arc of Texas team, we were able to set up trust accounts for my brothers, which enabled them to continue receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) while getting some of their needs met that are not covered by SSI.”
