How is Medicaid
working for those in need? The Arc of Texas is collecting stories to learn how Medicaid is working (or not!) for people with disabilities, so we can work together to educate and advocate for changes. If you, or anyone you know, has a story to tell concerning challenges and barriers to accessing and using Medicaid please contact Spencer Miller-Payne.
Are you a current or
emerging leader who wants to improve the quality of life of Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)? Do you want to support positive systems change for people with IDD, their families, and communities across the state? Looking to become a steward of the disability rights movement while building your network of connections? Then the Partners in Disability Leadership (PDL) program is for you! PDL is currently accepting applications for the 2023 class. Don't
wait, early bird registration ends December 16.
The Arc of Texas is
continuing to monitor the impact of our Waiting on a Waiver Campaign. Thus
far we have been prominently featured in four Houston Chronicle articles related to home and community based services (HCBS) Medicaid waiver access and one Austin American-Statesman on abuse in the managed care facilities. All the articles have featured commentary from Ashley Ford, Director of Public Policy & Advocacy for The Arc of Texas. Visit our newsroom for links to the articles.
The Arc of Texas is part
of a group of organizations working on behalf of Texas voters who had problems voting under the new law, SB1. We are working to make sure that every voter in Texas who wants to vote is allowed to vote. Please take a few minutes to complete a survey about our experiences. We are especially interested in hearing from you if you had trouble voting by mail or worry that you will have trouble voting in the future.
